Reviews for this Album

Vena Sera was a great album don't get me wrong...but in some ways I feel it fell short of what it really could have been.

You can sure feel the Vegas energy with every note Pete strums and every bass drum hit Sam pounds out, but it's missing something. That aura found in "Wonder Whats Next" or that feeling "This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)' gives you. Vena Sera in a way seems a bit over produced and not focused. In short, Vena Sera is missing that raw power found in past albums, sure its a "heavier" sound, but it comes on a flat note.

Vena Sera still is a must have for any Chevelle fan. Pete always has a way with words, and Sam pushes his drums past the envelope. Overall I give it a 4 out of 5.

I even cried when i heard Saferwaters for no reason. lol
i thought it was different, and that's not a bad thing. sometimes change is good.
loved it

Just the name of the album itself told me this was going to be a unique collection. The album was indeed different being heavier and fast paced by instruments and more abstract by lyrics. Even when people say they feel like it's over-produced, I agree but then again it just gives you even more to listen to in the end. No matter the criticism, it still felt like it was Chevelle.

When it comes to the singles, I thought they made some okay choices.
Well Enough Alone was a good choice - melodic and harmonic.
I Get It was the perfect choice - heavy, somewhat brutal and had a very interesting beat which distanced itself from other Chevelle songs.
The Fad I thought was a very good song, nice and heavy, but I think in its place should have been Saferwaters. Saferwaters had me completely immersed and I still believe it would have been a VERY good single for the album. Yeah Missy, I almost cried when I heard it, haha =[.

The album seemed much faster, louder and heavier than ever before, which won me over. I believe with this next album, being a bit softer and more melodic, the sound of Chevelle will be balanced.

This album is great, I am impressed at the talent displayed on this and all previous Chevelle albums. Each album has gotten better in my mind, although I still listen to and love just about every song on Chevelle's other albums. Thats one of the things I love about Chevelle, their songs just never get old to me, I listen and listen and its like I notice something different everytime. Keep up the good work and I can't wait to see you guys live, I have heard from countless fans that the live shows are amazing.

This is by far the best of the 4 albums. Not one bad song on it.

I think this really showed what the band was capable of not only can they play those heavy raw songs but they can also play some fast uptempo melodic songs which I fell in love with immediatly if i had to pick a favorite album though that would be impossible

Probably Saferwaters is the best song in this album, for me.

I love it! xoxo

what ever happened to the subtle and abstract lyrics while the guitar and drummer seem to be tamed before the explosion of kaos that all makes sense?

you guys have so much talent in the way of putting vocals and kaotic yet rythmatic songs
together thats what we want again. that subtlness then explosion of feeling and chords and drums all together a perfect melonie. you guys are the best at putting that explosiveness together and i hope you can do it for us somemore

DAMN!!AwEsOmE!!!!Love it!

tocan con un estilo muy original ¡¡¡¡

I don't have a whole lot to say, this album by far was the best CD I have ever bought, it's too bad they don't come to winnipeg (even though the MTS center is phenominal for sound). Or Canada for that matter.... Either way I felt obligated to register and say the entire CD vena sera is flawless. Their earlier CD's definately are worth a pick up but they aren't nearly the calibre of Vena Sera.

Start to finish all the tracks aren't something you would hit the skip track button on for. Vocally the singer has incredible range in his voice which I have rarely heard in many male singers, the sound the band drives forward only compliments it. Lastly to test the trial of time this is one of the few CD's that always always always return to my CD player to be listened to and marvelled over, time and time again. I am sure I am not the only person who shares this sentiment but I definately hope my opinion sways those who question buying the CD to buy it.

Don't dissapoint us with your next CD cuz the hype is almost too much to bear!!!

Where is Point #1, the first Chevelle CD? It is not in the discography? Just wondering.

Vena Sera is Chevelle's best album hands down! I mean, this is just straight forward good music! I mean, Antisaint is a great opening song for the album, and even though Saturdays isn't the greatest song on the album, it's a great closing song for an amazing album! Chevelle's lyrics are off the wall a bit (like in Antisaint and even Brainiac) but I think it adds to the great riffs and beats of the drums. If there is a Chevelle album you want to buy....buy Vena Sera because it is a great album! And even if I Get It is their number 1 song on Itunes, don't just go off of that! The best songs are Antisaint, Brainiac, Saferwaters, Well Enough Alone, The Fad, and of course, I Get It!

hands down the best album ever is This Type Of Thinking Can Do Us In

im noticing none of these reviews are addressing the true issue here. the next album. lol this album is great it shows what happens when the band loses a member like joe. sometimes its ok and it works out sometimes it doesnt. point is i wanna hear the bass more like in previous albums. and yes i know that it shouldnt be that way in this album we want to show respect for joe not rub it in his face. someone said that joe was the weak link in the band but i dont believe it. they say his bass lines werent melodic enough well i disagree. his sound was perfect for the band it did a wonderful job of filling the sound seeing as there is no second guitar. i think what we need is something new i dont know if joe had the right ideas of doing things with his part in the band but i loved his style. all of you guys are great musicians i love you all. sam on the drums youre F*($#(^(*^ awesome. pete wonderful meaningful vocals and guitar playing. dean you have a wonderful sound as well and i love you Smiling i am waiting for the next album to judge the bass lines. this album its good it works seeing as this is the first after joe is gone. but i want to hear that stand out sound from the bass that i heard with joe but in a different way the dean way. pete and sam guys let dean show what hes got please thanks. lol

Totally kick ass album- gets you pumped up and releases pent up anger and energy and molds well with my life!!!!

This album took some time to grow on me at first, but when I finally understood it I fell in love with it and listened to it till my ears bleed. I dont think this album is the heaviest cause it lost some edge by over-producing it, but is truly the most energetic album of Chevelle. I think the main reason why this album's name is Vena Sera and is because it keeps your blood pumping faster with each listen.

I don't know how some people on the internet can talk bad about this album... the heaviness of this album brutaly satisfying... songs like "Send The Pain Below" and "Bend The Bracket" are great, well done songs. but these guys can pound the heavy, blistering, fast paced rock that no-one can, or should, dislike

not much more i can say than that

I don't think Sci-Fi Crimes was better.

Give all the other albums steroids and Vena Sera is what you get. The album is just perfect, all the way down to the order of the tracks.
You guys f***in rule and need to keep doin what you do
Peace and PLEASE FOR THE LOVE ALL THINGS HOLY, COME BACK TO ST. LOUIS, MO

this was the perfect ordered song list CD that I've ever heard in all my days. From the sad melodic swing of Saferwaters to the mind pounding face-melting grit of Antisaint. This band is the best thing that ever happened to me they saved me from myself. CHEVELLE ROCKZ SO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!

Total AWESOMENESS

Saferwaters is my favorite song of the album and the album is amazing but Wonder What's Next is a classic that will never be duplicated. I can't comprehend the meaning of Saferwaters. Can anyone help me?

Their music took my breath away, Midnight to Midnight is my favorite! I like the beginning of the song, I think everyone who likes Chevelle will agree they are great !!!!! And those who love them also have something great!

every note,every sound, Perfect!!!

i just love this album

wow, This album was very different then what i got use to listening (chevelle's other albums). but change is good. The songs were a lot heavier and fast paced. My fav. is "I get it", well enough alone, and "Brainiac" I went your guys show here in McAllen on March 2008 it was awesome. It was also my first time. I been a fan since the first album came out and up till now..and forever and ever!^^

Vena Sera album is "powerful". A good album, and takes the essence of the band for each song.

My favorite songs from the album are: Straight Jacket Fashion, Antisaint, Brainiac and the bonus track In Debt To Earth.

love everything you guys always put out... i get so addicted to each cd and can't wait to see you live again... seattle anytime?

Its unreal how much I love chevelle! Theres only been one other band that has had this effect on me, Vena Sera was the first album from this group that I heard and is what ignited my admiration.

This is the album that made chevelle known to me .
A friend posted the song "Closure" to my facebook wall , I checked it out , I was amazed , I kept listening to the song.
Then I noticed on youtube , on the "suggestions" all songs of the album Vena Sera were listed. I slowly checked them all out and I must say I listen to this album day in and day out .. I explore artists every day , but never in my 22 years of age have I found an album that had so many powerful songs. they are all outstanding , even the tracks that didn't make it out for the album and were "bonus tracks"
Only 2 words to say for this album and the band .

Amazing.
Congratulations.

This is your guys best CD by far.....100% perfect i listen to this CD everyday. It never can nor will get old...you should hit up El Paso, TX again sometime in the near future....OooRAH!

The Album proved itself to me, I can admit that this album and I had to be made for each other, because I can relate to everything that comes with this album. I give this album 5 stars, and two thumbs up. I would reccommend for everyone all ages to buy Vena Sera. Excellent choices in sounds, lyrics and quality. Thanks Chevelle! - kasey.

Dude's, this album blows my mind.

Seriously.

one of Chevelle's best albums if not the best would have to be Vena Srea. I wish is heard it when it first came out. I like every song on the album, i heard Antisaint first like most people. But it was not for that song this album may never have became my favorite Chevelle album. i hope you guys make anther CD as good if not better. I will look forewared to seeing all of you in Dallas or nere by if you come back.

EXPLOSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Awesome Album.

I felt like it was Chevelle at their best. They hit every song with a lot of emotion, and amazing sounds in each one. I thought the album had an interesting sound to it, but I fell in love with it at the first song. My favorite track? Has to be between Antisaint, Brainiac, or I Get It. I really liked them all. All of their songs gave off a cool, heavy, and dominant sound. I love the album, and it couldn't get any better. For people saying that it was over-produced. I personally like that; you have more to listen to, and it gives it more of a vibe to it. Overall, I would rate the album an 4.5 out of 5. Keep it up Chevelle.

I absolutely fell IN LOVE with this album the first time I listened to it. It is a little short, but that's an easy thing to get past. It's an incredible CD.
This album definitely shows how Pete can sing beautifully at one point, and then blow out a 10-second gut-wrenching scream five seconds later. Meaning that they are heavy, but aren't only capable of just that.
This is, in my opinion, Chevelle's best work yet.

This album is kick ass! Every song is great. There is not one song on the album I do not absolutely love! I'm now going to break down every track, as I did with "Hats Off To The Bull".

1. Antisaint 10/10: Driving riffs and complex vocals make up the opening track of "Vena Sera". It's length (4:21)provides time for very memorable riffs and sudden breakdowns. The verses are medolic, and the chorus is powerful. Definitely a wise choice for the first song on the album. It really grabs your attention.
2. Brainiac 8/10: "Brainiac" is a lighter, simpler track then the previous (Antisaint), but still you find yourself banging your head and tapping your feet. Simplified licks smooth vocals provide the foundation for a good song that you can listen to every once in a while, although, I wasn't very fond of this particular track.
3. Saferwaters 10/10: This song gets better every time I hear it. Soft acoustic verses and distorted choruses give this song a very good rhythm. It has a very hard rock feel to it, yet at the same time, the acoustics balance out the weight of the song. This is a very, very good song that deserves more credibility than it has, one of the best on the album.
4. Well Enough Alone 9/10: If you have your speakers up to the max when you start this song, TURN THEM DOWN! Pete's opening scream will blow you (and your house) away! The song then goes into a lighter verse with beautiful guitars and stunning vocals. The chorus is a little heavier, but the interlude is where the song gets good! Amazing guitar licks and chilling vocals drop the interlude down on you like a ton of bricks!
5. Straight Jacket Fashion 10/10: This is easily the heaviest song on the album. This fast-paced missle of a song is about as good as you can get! The whole song is filled with loud guitars, and fast paced drums. This is my 3nd favorite song on the album. If you're looking for a metal song in a very low tuning, look no further, because you have come across the holy grail of said subject!
6. The Fad 10/10: SEND IN THE CLOWNS! "The Fad" is a low tuned, grungy, ass-kicking song that will leave you speechless every time! CAUTION: The opening bassline will stay in your head days after hearing! Every time I hear this song, I can just picture a bunch of clowns beating the living crap out of scammers, identity thieves, and polluters! By the way, the song feels A LOT longer than 3:37! My 2nd Favorite on the album.
7. Humanoid 8/10:What's this? Chevelle finally cusses in one of there songs...AWESOME! "Humanoid" is a song that almost grasps me. The song has never really been one of my favorites, but no matter. It's still a good song never the less.
8. Paint The Seconds 8/10: Yet another song that I never really grabs me. The opening riff is hella sick, and the chorus sounds pretty cool. Maybe I just need to listen to it more.
9. Midnight To Midnight 9/10: The longest song on the album really used that time to it's advantage. Well coordnated verses, and very fine chorus' show why some songs need to be long to fit in all the awesomeness (An Evening With El Diablo, Emotional Drought)! One of the better songs on the album...Oh yeah! I forgot to mention the interlude. BOOM! That is all I will say about said interlude.
10. I Get It 10/10: AH! Clowns again! Yes, another Chevelle clown video! This song is good for listening to at any time whatsoever! The verses are really interesting, with acoustic sounding guitar and fuzzed vocals. The chorus is heavily driven, and Pete has more of an "angry voice" than any other song on the album.
11. Saturdays 11/10: Chevelle has saved the best for last! "Saturdays" is like capturing lighning in a bottle. I've never come across a song nearly as good as this! The verses are driven by high pitched guitars and a really unique vocal sound. The small brak allows you to catch your breath, then BOOM! The chorus pushes you back in your seat while loud, distorted guitars echo over medolic lyrics. The interlude is the icing on the cake for this song. Pete's fuzzed vocals mixed with wailing guitars put you in a state of zen like you've never been in before. In my opinion, the best Chevelle song there is!

Well, thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed the album as much as I did.

I just heard of your band like a month ago and the first song I adored is I Get It. I'm a dancer so I love just breaking loose and dancing to your music and especially to that song. Pete I absolutely love your voice it's beautiful. Ya'll make great music and I hope Chevelle will come to Jacksonville, Fl when touring again because I will defiantly come with bunch of my friends. And Idk if Y'all do VIPs or not I haven't gone to really any concerts so I don't know what to really expect but if its with in my budget I will definatly get VIP pass.UHHHH I love Chevelle. I've only known Chevelle for a couple months but I already have strong feelings for this band. I think I'm in love...lol XD Terrific voices and drumming:) Lyrics touches my core in almost all of Chevelle's music and it's so amazing to dance too. Love you guys keep up the Auhh Mazing work... Smiling

This album ishands down my favorite of all of them. It came out three days before my birthday and two days after I was going through some serious relationship/emotional issues. This album helped me cope in more ways than I can explain, thus solidifying my everlong loyalty to you guys. Greatest thing that happened to me in 2007 hands down. Bet you guys didnt realize what kind of effects you had on people did you? lol Keep it up guys, best band of this genre and time. Rock on.
